The European Television History Network (ETHN)
The European Television History Network was founded in April 2005 by the Media Studies department of Utrecht University. It is a European network of academics and institutes who are active in the field of European television history. The network provides a platform for scientists and institutes for international research co-operation. The goal is to cluster and integrate European research activities in the field of television history.
European Film Gateway
The European Film Gateway started on 1st September 2008. Aim of the project is to develop a portal providing direct access to 790,000 digital objects. Most content will be provided by film archives and cinémathèques. The portal will be linked to the Europeana portal which enables users to search through different content from a single access point. The project is funded by the European Commission under the eContentplusprogramme.
Europeana provides access to approximately 2 million digital objects from museums, libraries, archives and audio-visual collections in Europe. In 2010 about 6 million objects should be available. The portal will use a multilingual interface. Europeana is a partnership of 90 representatives of heritage and knowledge organisations and IT experts throughout Europe.
