//www.flickr.com/photos/neilt/The Institute of Communications Studies at Leeds University hosted on March 15th a one-day conference entitled ‘Moving Image Archiving and the Academy’. The event brought together archivists and academics with a common interest in discussing the enhancing of accessibility to audiovisual archival material. Attention was brought to the importance of audiovisual archives for historical research and higher education uses. Practices of curating and preserving audiovisual materials so as to facilitate and enrich interpretations of history were discussed, as well as ways in which academic research influences and informs the archival of audiovisual materials.
