The Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) is Austria´s national radio and television network. Every day ORF serves about 200 hours of radio and 48 hours of television. The two TV-channels ORF1 and ORF2 ensure full-range program variety daily. Together with Germany´s Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF), Switzerland’s Schweizerische Rundfunkgesellschaft (SRG) and ARD-network ORF is a partner within the German-language satellite-distributed program 3Sat and produces about one third of it´s offerings.
The holdings of  ORF´s television archives date back until 1955, the founding year of the organisation. ORF´s television archives enjoy well-established contacts and co-operation with many other broadcast archives around the world, also in international organisations like FIAT/IFTA (International Federation of Television Archives). ORF is involved in the successful EU project MediaPLUS project BIRTH.
